Recovery in Three Months
Organic performance dropped sharply in late February, affecting visibility across the site. Blog content saw the biggest decline, particularly Best and recommendation focused pages that had previously performed well.
After three months of technical cleanup, content improvements and broader site changes, Google Search Console data began showing a clear recovery by mid to late May.

Challenge
The decline was sitewide, which meant there was no obvious single page or technical issue to fix.The first priority was to understand what had changed.
That meant separating technical problems from content related patterns and identifying which parts of the site had been affected most.
Technical Issues
Indexation had declined, while the site’s multilingual setup created additional problems. Translation URLs and hreflang tags had been generated even where the actual page content remained in English.
Content Decline
Blog content experienced the sharpest losses. Best and recommendation focused pages had grown quickly before the decline, but were also among the pages most affected when performance changed.
Sitewide Quality
The problem went beyond individual articles. Product pages, collection pages, brand information, author signals and off site activity all contributed to how the site presented its expertise and value.
The SEO Recovery Strategy
Rather than reacting by publishing more content or making isolated changes, I worked through the decline by page type and looked at the wider signals the site was sending. The SEO recovery focused on three areas.
01
Technical Cleanup
I reviewed indexation, page performance and the multilingual setup. Low quality translated versions were removed, while pages worth retaining were replaced with properly translated content and more consistent language signals.
02
Content Repositioning
Best content was reworked from simple recommendation driven formats toward decision focused content that helped users understand which option suited different needs and situations. At the same time, I increased the proportion of informational and educational content to build deeper topical coverage beyond commercial recommendations.
03
Sitewide Improvements
Collection and product pages received more useful decision support content, while About and author pages were strengthened to provide clearer information about the people and expertise behind the site.Off site activity was also tightened. Link volume was reduced in favour of placements on more relevant industry websites, prioritising relevance and credibility over quantity.
Building a More Resilient SEO Foundation
The recovery work went beyond restoring lost traffic. It also reduced the site’s reliance on recommendation focused blog content and created a more balanced organic search foundation across the website.
The project reinforced an important point: when a sitewide decline happens, the answer is rarely to simply publish more content. Understanding which parts of the site lost visibility, why they were vulnerable and where stronger search value could be built was more important than trying to replace the lost traffic page by page.
